MEDIA STATEMENT
30 APRIL 2025
SELANGOR TO HOST THE SELANGOR INTERNATIONAL CARE SUMMIT (SICS) 2025 AS A STEP TOWARDS BECOMING A REGIONAL HUB FOR CARE ECONOMY
1. The Selangor State Government, through the Standing Committee on Women and Family Empowerment, Social Welfare, and Care Economy, will organise the Selangor International Care Summit (SICS 2025).
2. For the very first time, SICS 2025 will be held from 9 to 11 October 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and will be part of the annual Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) organised by the Selangor State Government.
3. With the theme "Selangor: Asia Pacific Care Economy Hub," the summit reflects the aspirations and commitment of the Selangor State Government to become an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable care economy hub in the Asia Pacific region.
4. SICS 2025 is expected to gather more than 3,000 participants comprising local and international stakeholders from the public and private sectors, research bodies, universities, NGOs, and the care community.
5. More specifically, the objectives of organising SICS are as follows:
i. To increase understanding, awareness, and advocacy among all stakeholders on the importance of the care economy sector as a driver of Selangor's economic development and social well-being;
ii. To strengthen Selangor’s position as a key investment hub for the care sector by showcasing innovative care products and services;
iii. To build the capacity and professionalism of both formal and informal caregivers through discussions on policies, strategies, legal frameworks, financing models, and care technology innovation;
iv. To establish legal frameworks, regulatory policies, and fiscal incentives that support the development of a sustainable care ecosystem in line with the Selangor Care Economy Policy (DEPNS) 2024–2030;
v. To stimulate both domestic and foreign direct investment (DDI & FDI) in the care sector through business matching sessions between investors and local and international care service providers; and
vi. To enhance the well-being of Selangor residents, particularly vulnerable groups such as the elderly, persons with disabilities (PWD), informal caregivers, and low- income families in need of quality, affordable, and accessible care services.
6. The main components of SICS include:
i. Care Forum – Targeting 600 participants, this forum will bring together diverse stakeholders to discuss policy issues, legal transformation, human capital development, smart care technologies, sustainable financing, and strategic collaboration;
ii. Care Expo – This exhibition will feature over 80 booths representing various care sectors including child care, elderly care, bedridden patient care, PWD care, and smart care technologies. It will also involve institutions that offer skills and capacity- building training for both formal and informal caregivers;
iii. Care Business Matching – This session aims to connect potential investors with care service providers, care product manufacturers, and social entrepreneurs interested in expanding within the sector; and
iv. Care Townhall – An open dialogue session and dynamic platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among global leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to explore emerging trends, exchange best practices, and drive transformative solutions shaping the future of the care economy.
7. To ensure the success of this summit, the Selangor State Government invites all parties— especially industry players offering care-related products and services, technologists, researchers and R&D institutions, investors, international bodies, NGOs, social workers, caregivers, and the general public—to participate in SICS 2025.

9. The organisation of SICS is aligned with the implementation of the Selangor Care Economy Policy (DEPNS) 2024–2030 and the state’s development direction under the First Selangor Plan (RS-1). This programme is held in collaboration with Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS), Invest Selangor, and Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI).
